In FastCo: What Digital Designers Can Learn From A Master Motorcycle Build
In an article by FastCo Design in late 2012, the world began to learn about ADMCi's intention to bring craft to the digital profession.
JT Nesbitt, our artisan in residence (AIR), seemed an unlikely candidate. But, following a dissertation at Jacoby's agency at the time (Manifest Digital) it was clear that audience was intrigued.
What was also clear was that it would be fun to play a little and see if we couldn't attract some attention via a Kickstarter campaign. We certainly got plenty of attention... and we had a ton of fun. But, as warned, funding a 'concept' on Kickstarter is near-to-impossible compared to launching a tangible product.
We had our butts handed to us in that regard, but we had a great time trying to get there! Now that we have something tangible... hmmm...
What say you? Should we try the community once again? Maybe this time for a short-run documentary raise or a trip to Bonneville?
Jim Jacoby wants to fund a series of dream motorcycles designed by JT Nesbitt, and in the process, teach people about the virtues of craft.
